Coaches

The England coaching team are highly skilled, highly motivated professionals dedicated to achieving success for English rugby. Experience is certainly not lacking among any of the coaches, with Graham Rowntree alone amassing an impressive 54 England caps.

A new addition is former dual code international Andy Farrell, who has made his position as Backs Coach permanent after a successful secondment from Saracens for the 2012 RBS 6 Nations.

Having picked up three International Championship titles as a player, including two Grand Slams, Graham Rowntree added to his collection, this time off the field, when England triumphed in the 2011 RBS 6 Nations.

Andy Farrell

After an extraordinary dual code rugby career that brought 34 Great Britain caps and 11 for England in the 13-a-side game and eight in Union, Andy Farrell OBE became the England backs coach for the 2012 RBS 6 Nations Championship and in June was appointed to rejoin the coaching team on a three-and-a-half year contract extending to January 31, 2016.

Mike Catt

Since enjoying a glittering career and winning 75 caps for England, together with one for the British & Irish Lions, Mike Catt OBE made a striking contribution as the London Irish Attack Coach. It led to his role as England backs coach for last summer’s tour of South Africa, followed by his appointment on September 8 as attacking skills coach for England’s elite players.

Simon Hardy

As a full time coach working with England teams for the past 11 years, Simon Hardy is steeped in the game that he took up when 15 at Great Baddow Comprehensive in Chelmsford. Simon said: "It was a soccer school so we only played rugby when there were no football fixtures."

Since his appointment as a National Academy Coach with the RFU Elite Rugby Department last September, Nick Walshe has played an important role in assisting England U20 Head Coach Rob Hunter and ensuring the ongoing success of the squad that includes the 2012 Six Nations title.

Russell Earnshaw

True grit, allied with technical knowledge and an inveterate sense of humour, are prized assets of Russell Earnshaw. He played for England Sevens from 1997-2003 and became assistant coach for the final two legs of the 2007 IRB World Series but has enjoyed a packed career before and since.

Susie Appleby

Susie Appleby

Assistant Coach of the England Women's Sevens team, Susie is also a former England international scrum-half. She first made her debut in 1994 and was a regular feature of the England team for 13 years before hanging up her boots in 2007 and amassing 65 caps. Susie has also played Sevens for England between 1997 and 2001 and played club rugby for Novocastrians, Leeds, Saracens and Clifton.
